Description

The Apprentice Equaliser (EQ) phono stage is the mark 2 version of the very popular Edwards Audio MM1, that uses a similar circuit design with passive treble and active bass equalisation, along with a second stage amplifier to buffer the equalisation network and ensure a low output impedance, which is quite rare for a phono stage at this price.

This phono stage is configured to be used with Edwards Audio’s custom-made single rail DC regulated switch mode power supply. This phono stage has a steel double U case construction, and therefore it does not need an expensive extrusion. The phono stage has a stylish 3mm black acrylic front panel.

The performance of this phono stage is guaranteed by its near silent noise floor and 40dB gain. Edwards Audio rates this phono stage’s performance at approximatly 85% of the MM1, which at around half the price, makes it a true audiophile bargain. It is ideally suited for the customer who is either on a budget or uses a turntable such as the Apprentice TT.
